“The judge identified nine aspects of An Inconvenient Truth, nine core errors, where Al Gore either misstated the IPCC or prejudicially exaggerated what they found.” John Day is the lawyer for a British parent who sued the British Department

Stephen McIntyreWe are seeing history today folks.  The Guardian, a paper which usually toots the environmentalist horn, has retracted the "denier" label for Steven McIntyre. McIntyre, a retired businessman who was featured in Not Evil Just Wrong, was one of the first to challenge the claims of the Hockey Stick graph created by Michael Mann.

In today's article by Fred Pearce, he compares McIntyre's quest for data to breaking down the ivory walls of academia, but originally took the time to label a caption of McIntyre as a "full-time climate change denier."  Readers were quick to come to McIntyre's defense, with half a dozen or so comments demanding the label be taken down.

To our shock and dismay, The Guardian capitualted within the hour by changing the label to "climate skeptic."  Is it possible that skeptics are not only gaining ground but the respect of the mass media?  We at Not Evil sure hope so.

smilies/wink.gif Awesome - breaking through the lies is a tough business to be in ('specially these days...) -- McIntyre has guts! Something we all need more of.

"climate skeptic" is still a nasty and deliberately misleading label. He does not disbelieve climate, whatever the hell that is supposed to mean.

Steven McIntyre is a science auditor or more specifically a climate change auditor, he only takes a position on finding the truth.

"Denier" v "Skeptic"
Here in Britain, those who oppose our membership of the EU are usually called "Eurosceptics" if not "Europhobes"

We would prefer to be called Eurorealists, as we look at the facts not the promotional hype.

I think we should adopt the term "Climate Realist" for people like Mr McIntyre. It is truthful.

If we keep repeating it often enough, who knows? Even the Guardian might take it up.
(and pigs might fly)
